THE CHILDREN'S HOME

The Children's Home is a loving home for destitute children thanks to our support from LGCCA.Schools – we have one school in Anse a Galets & we support another local school in Morne Augustin. We are looking for people to sponsor students, help with infrastructure and building repairs or donate school supplies.

It is situated in the town of Anse-a-Galets on la Gonave island, Haiti. At present it is in a family home in the town but plans are being made to purpose build a new orphanage building just outside of the town as there are many children who need a safe place to live.
October 2015
We now care for 6 children in the Childrens Home – Roseberline, Nedjie, Medwine, Bediada, Berkendy and Berry. I was delighted to see how healthy they all are now – all were badly malnourished when they came to us. They are all doing well at school and are very happy

The orphanage is operated by the ASHOG’s hand picked team. They are the ones who look after the children and upkeep the house. The team builds a bond and develops trust with the children, making it then their main priority to keep the children safe and fed. To the left we have a clip of the kids playing a game at their previous home!

MORNE AUGUSTIN SCHOOL OF ASHGOG

The kids go to school from Monday to Friday and that’s where they will learn subjects such as Mathematics and History. Although Haiti’s official languages are both Haitian Creole and French, in school they are only alphabetized in French.
The school also offers a program called “Hungry Tummies'', which essentially provides one substantial meal a day for each student. The reason behind this program is simple, many families don't have enough resources to provide for their own children. By offering lunch at school we are able to feed the children, and in some cases, we give them what might even be their only meal of the day.

YOUTH MENTORSHIP

We offer a Mentorship Program with our youth.
